Day 1: Arrive Entebbe

Day 2: Entebbe  – Queen Elizabeth NP

After breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National park (QENP). Lunch en route. Evening game drive around the royal miles. Overnight stay at the Hotel/ Lodge of your choice F/B.

Day 3: Queen Elizabeth NP

Morning game drives on this day start at 6:30am to 12:00pm.  Queen Elizabeth National Park's diverse Eco-system of grassy plains, tropical forest, rivers, swamps, lakes and volcanic craters is home to an incredible abundance of wildlife.  Game drives in this park; provide excellent opportunities to see lion, leopard, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo, elephants, defassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, and bush buck. Return to the lodge/ Hotel for lunch. Afternoon launch trip begins at 3:00pm on the Kazinga channel that joins lake Edward and lake George. The trip passes through possibly the highest hippo concentration in Africa and many mammals may be seen drinking at the water's edge. The cruise offers an excellent platform for photography and game viewing. The birdlife is colorful and abundant.  The game drive and boat trip are a memorable experience of discovering a vast array of Ugandan wildlife.  Over Night at your hotel/lodge of choice (FB). 

Day 4: Queen Elizabeth NP - Ishasha

Drive to Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, through the Switzerland of Africa, with the road winding through many hills and valleys, with distant views of the volcanoes and lakes. Encounter with different kind of birds and monkeys en route to Ishasha. Over Night at your hotel/lodge of choice (FB).

Day 5. Ishasha – Rwanda (Parc National de Volcans).

After an earlier Breakfast, drive to Rwanda via the rolling hills of Kisoro, cross to Rwanda via Cyanika border. Arrive Ruhengere-Kinigi town in the afternoon hours. Pic-nic lunch en route.  Overnight stay at the Hotel/ Lodge of your choice F/B.

Day 6 Parc National de Volcans.

After Breakfast drive to the park offices for registration to track the Gorilla in their natural habitat Walk the ragged hills of mountain gorillas, a walking stick will be provided at park offices when you need one. No flash cameras while watching gorillas. Sick persons will not be allowed to view the gorillas especially those with flue related illness. After lunch at the hotel drive to Nyungwe forest via Kigali the capital of Rwanda. Overnight at hotel/lodge of your choice.

Day 7 : Parc National de Volcans – Butare

After breakfast drive to Butare via Kigali. Lunch in Kigali and then after proceed to Butare. Visist  the museum  and overnight at Hotel of your choice F/B

Day 8 : Butare – FORET DE NYUNGWE - Bukavu

Nyungwe forest constitutes of primary forest which enable the visitors the chance to observe many species of primates including the chimpanzees and colobus monkeys. With the help of the parc guide and the porter, we will ready enter the forest canopy and approach the mammifères at their social developped nature life. Possibility of encountering a group of about 50 individual followed by the trackers. Moment to meet very intense vegetation with a variety of Orchades. Slowly we will learn about extraordanary world of vegetation more especially in swamp of high altitude. In the afternoon we proceed to DR. Congo via Cyangugu border, arrive Bukavu in the Evening for overnight stay at Orchidée hotel.

Day 9: Kauzi Biega

Day open to visit the Lowland gorillas in their natural habitat. Mishebere and Kimanuka groups are the most recent habituated groups with over 32 individuals. Mugaruka the silver back who was most famous to most visitors to Kahuzi biega, has never been seen for a long time. Possibility that he could have migrated or killed by poachers. Overnight at Hotel Orchide.

Day 10: Kauzi-biega – Kigali

After breakfast drive to Kigali. Lunch en route. Transfer to the Airport


High class lodge: Virunga Lodge, Sabinyo Silver back, Gorilla nest, Wilderness camp, Mweya Safari Lodge,  Ntungwe river camp, Hotel Credo Butare, Hotel Orchidee.

Middle class lodge: Hotel la Palm, EER Church, Muhabura oldest hotel in the region, Katala lodge, Savanah lodge.

Budget Accommodation: Kinigi guest house, Ecology hostel, Hotel petit Prince.

Price includes:

Ground transport, chosen accommodation, and all the activities mentioned above with an English/French speaking driver/guide and 1 gorilla trekking permit per person.


Gorilla permits are obtained from park offices of Rwanda in Kigali at a cost of 750 US dollars each. This includes entry fees to the park, guide fee and community levy and government taxes. Due to competition on gorilla visit, the above mentioned amount of money for gorilla permit has to be transferred through the bank as soon as you confirm your trip to secure the place and to avoid inconveniences during the gorilla visit.

Low Land Gorilla permits are obtained at a cost of US dollar 400 each and per person.

Prices are subject to change based upon accommodation availability, your tour alterations and other parameters until time of full and final confirmation.


  1. Kifaru African Expeditions will require a 50% deposit at time of travel confirmation. This percentage will be used to cover 50% deposit on Gorilla and hotel/lodge reservation.
  2. 50% balance will be required to be deposited 15 days before the date of arrival

Due to the nature of Safari Travel and the risks normally associated with it, Kifaru African Expeditions Ltd can not accept responsibility for any eventuality resulting from illness, accident, injury, political risk, animal attack, loss of baggage and any other foreseen event which may occur whilst in use of or in contact with the property and services of Kifaru African Expeditions Ltd.

Cancellation Policy

In the event of cancellations or reduction in numbers made:

  • Between 35-20 days from the date of Travel, 10% of the total travel cost will be charged.
  • Between 19-10 days from the date of Travel, 25% of the total travel cost will be charged.
  • Between 09-02 days from the date of Travel, 100% of the total travel cost will be charged.
